Statement

I started painting after a car accident caused a brain injury and balance dysfunction so severe that I was unable to work, drive, walk, read, or even watch t.v., and my world became very small. I became desperate to find something to occupy my time and give me something to look forward to each day. My husband, who is also an artist, suggested I try painting, and he gave me some acrylic paints and paint brushes to try.

I’ve since fallen in love with painting. It has brought me happiness, even in the darkest days of my recovery. My first paintings were of birds, a reflection of my love of nature. As my recovery continued, I eventually regained the ability to use my computer, and I began watching online tutorials. It was there that I discovered abstract painting, and I’ve fallen in love with the freedom and expressiveness it offers.

I consider myself to be an intuitive artist, as I allow my emotions and intuition to guide my process. My pieces evolve organically, with no preconceived notions about how each piece will look when completed.
